Court Rules in Favor of Roosevelt Man, Who Claimed He Was Falsely Arrested and Wrongfully Evicted From His Rented Home By Nassau Police — Case to be Slated for Trial
The United States District Court, Eastern District of New York in Brooklyn recently denied a summary judgment, allowing a lawsuit filed on behalf of Michael Smith to proceed to trial against Nassau County and several of its police officers. Mr. Smith, who is represented by Gregory Calliste, Jr. and Frederick K. Brewington of the firm, claims that he was wrongfully accused, stopped, detained, seized, falsely arrested, falsely imprisoned, abused, harassed, wrongfully evicted, and maliciously charged for crimes he did not commit.

Court Rules in Favor of African-American Town of Southampton Groundskeeper, Allows Racial Discrimination and Harassment Case to Proceed
The United States District Court, Eastern District of New York in Central Islip recently denied a summary judgment in favor of the plaintiff, David Coles, in a racial discrimination and harassment case against the Town of Southampton. The plaintiff, who is represented by Frederick K. Brewington, claims that he was unlawfully subjected to a hostile work environment by Andrew Kuroski, his immediate supervisor, and Jonathan Erwin, the town’s parks maintenance supervisor. Mr. Coles said the pattern of discrimination and behavior began when Mr. Erwin took his new position.

Court Allows Multimillion-Dollar Lawsuit against Nassau County Police Officers to Proceed in Case Involving Tasering of Man Suffering From Bipolar Disorder
A lawsuit filed on behalf of a Roosevelt man and his family has been allowed to proceed after the defendant Nassau County Police officers were denied a motion for summary judgment to dismiss the lawsuit. The plaintiffs, represented by Frederick K. Brewington, are seeking $50 million in damages, alleging violations of false imprisonment under the Fourth Amendment and New York State law, trespass, excessive force under the Fourth Amendment, assault and battery, municipal liability and qualified immunity.
