Falsely Accused Victim Is Vindicated–Criminal Charges Dismissed
In this criminal action in which Mr. Nahshon White was initially charged with Felony Assault, the charges were eventually dismissed. Initially Mr. White was charged with violating Penal Law § 120.05 (2), Assault in the Second Degree and Possession of a Weapon in violation of Penal Law § 265.02(2). The felony charge was converted to a violation of §120.00(1) on May 12, 2016. The matter arises from an assault on Mr. White on October 22, 2015 by another man, who happened to be the brother of Mr. White’s wife.

Ronald Lanier, Retired African-American Nassau County Correction Officer, Files Notice of Claim for Violations and Civil Rights Law Abuses by the Village of Garden City Police Department and for Their False Arrest, Racial Discrimination, Verbal and Physical Abuse
Retired Correction Officer Ronald Lanier, who is an African-American and a 22½-year veteran of the Nassau County Sheriff’s Department, was joined by members of several law enforcement and community groups to announce the filing of his Notice of Claim for his vicious physical abuse, wrongful treatment, violations of his Constitutional rights, false arrest and abuse at the hands of Garden City Village police officers. Frederick K. Brewington, Mr. Lanier’s attorney, held a press conference at his office on December 2 to announce the filing.
