Man Beaten By Police And Falsely Arrested Has Criminal Charges Dismissed By Court Twice
Ronel Danzy, who was falsely charged by the Village of Hempstead Police with Menacing in the Third Degree, Resisting Arrest and Disorderly Conduct, had his charges dismissed after proving he was not granted a right to a speedy trial. Mr. Danzy said the prosecution took more than 90 days to present its case.

NYS Education Department Denies Hempstead School Board's Appeal To Overturn Election Results
The New York State Department of Education has denied an appeal by the Hempstead School District Board of Education to invalidate the election results which named Maribel Touré and Gwendolyn Jackson as the winners. The court found that the claims that the two candidates engaged in financial misconduct and electioneering were unsupportable. Frederick K. Brewington represented Ms. Touré and Ms. Jackson during the appeal.

Parents of African-American High School Student Files Federal Lawsuit Against School, Citing Failure to Protect Their Child From Bullying and Harassment
The family of a teenager has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the Valley Stream Central High School District, also naming other parties involved, claiming that high school officials failed to prevent the brutal attack by a Caucasian student, which they believe was racially motivated. The action is pursuing compensatory damages, punitive damages, and monetary relief.

Pedestrian Struck By Box Truck That Drove Through Red Light Obtains $777,000 Settlement

Plaintiff Donald Dougherty, 68 years old, was crossing Lakeview Ave. in Lynbrook, N.Y., with a green traffic signal, when he was struck by a box truck operated by Lauren Wallace, who was making a left turn. Mr. Dougherty was in the intersection at the time of the accident.
